dc.description Глобальне поширення англійської мови змінило мовний ландшафт багатьох суспільств, особливо в Азії, де ця мова нині відіграє центральну роль в освіті, спілкуванні та професійному житті. Англійська мова, яка вже не обмежується країнами, де вона є рідною, перетворилася на глобальну лінгва-франка, якою користуються багатомовні люди в різноманітних культурних контекстах. Цей розвиток вплинув не лише на мовну політику та освітні практики, а й на місцеві мови через лексичні запозичення та транслітерацію. Японія є особливо цікавим прикладом цього явища, оскільки англійська мова глибоко вкоренилася як у системі освіти, так і в повсякденному лексиконі завдяки широкому вживанню запозичених слів. На цьому тлі у цій статті розглядаються останні дослідження щодо розширення ролі англійської мови в Азії, з особливим акцентом на Японії, та обговорюються їхні педагогічні наслідки для викладання японської мови як іноземної, особливо у контексті навчання англійською мовою та рівня володіння англійською мовою викладачами. uk_UA
dc.description.abstract The global spread of English has transformed the linguistic landscape of many societies, particularly in Asia, where the language now plays a central role in education, communication, and professional life. No longer confined to native-speaking countries, English has evolved into a global lingua franca used by multilingual speakers across diverse cultural contexts. This development has influenced not only language policies and educational practices but also local languages through lexical borrowing and transliteration. Japan provides a particularly interesting example of this phenomenon, as English has become deeply embedded in both the educational system and everyday vocabulary through the widespread use of loanwords. Against this background, this paper reviews recent research on the expanding role of English in Asia, with a particular focus on Japan, and discusses its pedagogical implications for teaching Japanese as a foreign language, especially in relation to English-medium instruction and teachers’ English proficiency. uk_UA
